A rare Georgian–Victorian transitional brooch featuring a beautifully hand-engraved ribbon motif set over a smooth white chalcedony oval. The softly milky chalcedony creates a luminous background that enhances the raised gold-tone ribbon at the center, finished with an oval red stone reminiscent of carnelian or deep ruby-colored glass. The engraved detailing on the ribbon reflects early 19th-century craftsmanship, while the structural form and decorative border echo the aesthetic shift that followed into the Victorian era.
The brooch is framed by an ornate gold-tone border with gentle relief patterns, adding depth and texture to the piece. The reverse is fitted with a traditional C-clasp, a hallmark closure found on jewellery from this period. Elegant, sculptural, and highly distinctive, this is a rare example of transitional design with strong antique character.
